New Varicose Vein Treatment

Lottie Espinosa (3)

More options are always better. Dr Fern and Vein & Skin is now trained and approved to administer varithena sclerotherapy. In the past, the word sclerotherapy brought to mind the treatment of spider veins, not the larger, protruding varicose veins. But now a new type of sclerotherapy is being used to treat varicose veins and it is covered by most insurance. If high deductibles have you worried, we offer 12 month 0% interest to help. This offers our patients another option.

FDA approved studies have shown sclerotherapy with varithena to be highly effective in the treatment of large varicose veins. The varithena procedure is a simple catheter guided injection of sclerotherapy fluid that is even easier on the patient. It does not require any anesthesia treatment and is done in the office. . Varithena sclerotherapy allows the treatment of multiple varicose veins at the same time, giving a satisfactory immediate result from one session. For large twisted and tortuous veins, this is an easier and better treatment.

Patients are able to return to work the day after treatment and can return to light activity immediately. There is no down time; no propping up of the leg, resting in bed, etc.

Of course, we still do the Closure procedure: it was the first giant step in improved, in-office varicose vein treatment. But with the introduction of varithena sclerotherapy, we are encouraged that the field of varicose vein treatment continues to bring more and more options for our patients. Call today to schedule your evaluation as to which treatment is best for you.
