Can You Treat Hand Veins?

Often the appearance of your hands can show your age as much as your face does. Many of my patients find that as they get older, their hand veins become very prominent. When they look at their hands, they feel that they look old, scrawny, and veiny. Over the years, they have asked if anything can be done about this. And the answer is yes; as a matter of fact it is easily corrected.

But why does this happen? If you look at children and young adults, you will notice that their hands are smooth and no veins are visible. Why does this change? The answer lies is the aging process and thinning of the skin on the dorsum of the hand. Heredity also plays a part — thank you mom, dad or Aunt Hilda!

So we must give a little attention to those hands that have served us so well over the years. The hands can be helped by first treating the large veins with sclerotherapy and then by treating the thinned skin with fillers. The results are dramatic and long lasting.  The vein removal is permanent and the filler treatment lasts for over a year.

Sclerotherapy treatments in the hand are much simpler than the legs and the results are even more dramatic. The patient’s satisfaction level is high. Post treatment care is minimal and the patient can return to light activity the next day and full activity within a week. The appearance of the hands is very important. This is why there is such a high satisfaction level with vein and skin treatments of the hands.
