Botox® in Decatur, GA
What Is Botox®?
Botox® is created from the Botulism toxin, which when used by a qualified plastic surgeon, is a useful drug that can help repair facial wrinkles, misaligned eyes, uncontrollable blinking, underarm sweating, and neck and shoulder muscle contractions. Botox® is injected directly into the muscles using a syringe to block chemical signals to the nerves that cause muscles to contract.
How Is Botox® Performed?
Botox® is injected into specific muscles using a fine needle. The injection causes very little discomfort. Botox® does not take full effect immediately but will show full results in three to seven days. Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medicines should not be taken two weeks before the treatment, so the patient does not experience bruising. The Botox® effect will last up to six months before the muscles begin contracting again, and the lines and wrinkles return. However, with each injection, the muscles are gradually being trained to relax and will contract less and less.
